Mercy Chefs is a faith-based, nonprofit disaster and humanitarian relief organization that provides professionally prepared, restaurant-quality meals to victims, volunteers and first responders in natural disasters and emergencies. In November, it was awarded a $25,000 EDRF to distribute meals to those affected by Hurricane Helene. To determine who receives assistance Mercy Chefs collaborates with local emergency management agencies, disaster relief organizations, and community partners, allowing it to identify and reach the most vulnerable populations affected by Hurricane Helene, including:

  • Families and individuals who have been evacuated or displaced from their homes
  • Low-income families struggling to access food due to the impact of the hurricane
  • Seniors and individuals with disabilities who may have limited mobility or resources
  • Communities in rural areas that have been cut off from supplies and assistance
  • First responders and emergency personnel working tirelessly to help those in need

Mercy Chefs set up emergency kitchen sites in strategic locations throughout the impacted areas, allowing them to efficiently serve the hardest-hit communities. Despite the challenges posed by the hurricane, such as power outages, transportation disruptions, and limited access to resources, their team worked to ensure that no one went hungry during this crisis. Mercy Chefs leverages their expertise in disaster relief, strong partnerships with local organizations, and its network of supporters to meet increased demand for our services. Mercy Chefs is dedicated to providing nourishment as well as hope and comfort to those affected by this disaster.
