What is a Designated Fund?

A designated fund is a way to support specific nonprofits for generations to come. Many donors recognize their annual gifts are a critical resource for the nonprofit organizations they care deeply about. Designated funds benefit one or more named charities for a designated period or in perpetuity.

Create a designated fund when you have supported select organizations for years and want that support to continue.

About

Since 1990, the historic Newton Academy Cemetery has been preserved by CFWNC as part of a unique gift agreement.  Through a court order, the Foundation was charged with restoring, preserving and maintaining the cemetery property for future generations. Preservation guidelines include maintaining the simplicity of a rural, primitive cemetery with plantings historically appropriate for the 19th century.  Earliest recorded burial date was in 1818; last recorded burial date was in 1928. A committee of CFWNC staff and community volunteers oversee the management of the Cemetery property. The committee's work is supported by the designated Newton Academy Cemetery Fund.
