The Pigeon River Fund seeks to improve the streams and rivers of Haywood, Buncombe and Madison counties. Grants of $5,000 to $35,000 are available for projects and activities that provide direct benefits in at least one of the following focus areas:

Improved surface water quality

Enhanced fish and wildlife management and habitats

Expanded public access

Increased citizens' awareness about their roles in protecting these resources

The Ramble Charitable Fund was created to improve the quality of life in designated Buncombe County communities by supporting education, economic development, health care and other projects that promote community development. Grants range from $2,500 to $12,500 for nonprofit organizations and public agencies for programmatic needs, capital needs and operating expenses.
