Overview

The Community Foundation offers People in Need Grants up to $20,000 for outstanding programs or projects that promise significant help for economically-disadvantaged people in our mountain communities. Grants are funded by the Janirve Legacy Fund, CFWNC fundholders and discretionary funds, and private foundations that partner with us. In November 2018, CFWNC awarded $1,152,171 through 66 grants to nonprofits throughout the region.

The Pigeon River Fund (PRF) exists to improve the streams and rivers of Haywood, Buncombe and Madison counties. It supports projects and activities that provide direct benefits in at least one of the following focus areas:
1.Improved surface water quality
2.Enhanced fish and wildlife management and habitats
3.Expanded public access
4.Increased citizens' awareness about their roles in protecting these resources.

Learning Links Grant Application Deadline

The Learning Links program offers grants up to $800 to public schools in order to provide "hands-on" creative learning projects to their students. The goal of this program is to increase students' enthusiasm for learning and staying in school, ultimately through graduation.

WFW works to create opportunities for women and girls of Western North Carolina through grantmaking, advocacy and advancing women’s philanthropy. Since 2006, WFW has invested more than $3.8 million in high impact grants in WNC.
