Children of members of New Morgan Hill Baptist Church (now Lake Hills Life Church) in Candler, NC, who are between age 17 and 23 and who are enrolled or planning to enroll in an accredited undergraduate or technical program in the U.S.

Graduating public high school seniors from Graham, Jackson, Macon and Swain counties and the Qualla Boundary. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, and preference will be given to students with financial need, to Native American Indians, and to anyone transitioning out of foster care.

Graduating seniors from any public high school or certified home school in the 29-county Western North Carolina region to attend an accredited NC four-year college or university.

Qualified graduates or graduating high school seniors, including those in a certified home school, who are members of the Cashiers (Jackson County) or Highlands (Macon County) communities. Recipients must plan to attend an accredited U.S. college, university, community college, or vocational school full-time.

Open to applicants with superior academics, leadership and community service, whose primary residence is in Buncombe or Madison County, and who are seniors in public schools in Buncombe or Madison County or the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics (NCSSM) or the University of North Carolina School of the Arts (UNCSA).

One-time $1,000 One Award

Graduating high school seniors in Cherokee, Clay or Graham counties in recognition of merit, character, leadership, service and financial need. Residents of Cherokee, Clay or Graham county. High school seniors who are home schooled or attend the UNCSA, NCSSM, or Tri-County Early College are also eligible.

Graduating seniors of Asheville High School (Buncombe County) planning to attend one of the specified state institutions in North Carolina: Appalachian State University, North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, North Carolina Central University, North Carolina State University, University of North Carolina at Asheville, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, University of North Carolina at Charlotte, University of North Carolina at Greensboro, University of North Carolina at Wilmington or Western Carolina University.

Owen High School (Buncombe County), Madison High School (Madison County), or McDowell High School (McDowell County), and currently attending a college or university in North Carolina or Tennessee, and engaged in a course of study leading to the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree, with a strong preference for students with demonstrated interest in working with large animals.
