(April 2020) The Rutherford County Endowment awarded thirteen grants totaling $81,600 to Rutherford County nonprofits in its recent grant cycle. The Rutherford County Endowment, in partnership with CFWNC, has awarded 211 grants totaling $1,539,953.
“The Rutherford County Endowment is here to support nonprofits by providing local dollars for local programs,” said Advisory Board Chair John Condrey. “Especially now, when the COVID-19 pandemic is changing demands on organizations, these permanent charitable resources devoted to supporting Rutherford County nonprofits are crucial. These awards are possible because people who care about this community built a fund over time to help in challenging situations. These grants support important community organizations as they continue the work we all depend on them to do.”
The 2020 grants are:
$8,000 to Basics Christian Ministries
$2,500 to Carolina Cross Connection
$3,000 to Community Pet Center
$2,500 to Gardner-Webb University
$9,150 to Hickory Nut Gorge Outreach
$5,000 to NC MedAssist
$7,500 to Pisgah Legal Services
$4,300 to Rutherford Building Agriculture Relationships Now
$7,500 to Rutherford County Habitat for Humanity
$10,000 to Rutherford County Senior Center
$9,150 to Salem United Methodist Church/Washburn Community Outreach Center
$3,000 to Salvation Army of Shelby, NC, for Rutherford County
$10,000 to Yokefellow Service Center
In 1996, local residents established the Rutherford County Endowment as a permanent charitable endowment to meet local needs. Gifts added to the Fund’s principal are preserved and invested, while grants from the Fund support nonprofits in Rutherford County.
