(July 2024) – Biltmore Lake Charitable Fund at The Community Foundation of Western North Carolina (CFWNC) recently awarded eight grants totaling $72,625. The Fund was established to improve the quality of life in the Enka-Candler community by supporting education, economic development, health care and community development projects. With these grants, total grantmaking since 2005 is $1,302,588.
Recent grants are:
$8,625 to Candler Elementary School for security cameras.
$10,000 to Enka High School for sound system equipment.
$10,000 to Enka Intermediate School for an electronic school sign.
$9,000 to Enka Middle School for a gymnasium scoreboard.
$10,000 to Helping at Risk Kids to provide support for homeless youth and to help children under DSS care with unmet needs.
$10,000 to Hominy Valley Elementary School for SMARTboards and document cameras.
$5,000 to Literacy Together for adult literacy program education materials.
$10,000 to Pisgah Elementary School to provide a tutor for 3rd and 4th-grade students.
