(June 2022) – Biltmore Lake Charitable Fund at CFWNC recently awarded nine grants totaling $70,324. The Biltmore Lake Charitable Fund was established to improve the quality of life in the Enka-Candler community by supporting education, economic development, health care and community development projects. With these grants, total grantmaking since 2005 is $1,228,014.
Recent grants are:
$6,500 to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Western North Carolina for a mentoring program for youth who are under-resourced.
$9,615 to Candler Elementary School to replace a deteriorating wooden playground.
$9,564 to Enka High School to create a classroom area in the media center.
$10,000 to Helping at Risk Kids to provide for the unmet needs of children while they are in the welfare system.
$4,000 to Hominy Valley Elementary School for STEM lab materials.
$10,000 to Montmorenci United Methodist Church/Free Community Meal to purchase fresh food for its weekly distribution.
$5,000 to Pisgah Elementary School to purchase new print materials to modernize the outdated collection.
$5,645 to Sand Hill - Venable Elementary School for field trips and supporting curriculum materials.
$10,000 to Verner Center for Early Learning to support the development of an onsite mental health and developmental therapy program for children and families.
