(June 2023) – Biltmore Lake Charitable Fund at The Community Foundation of Western North Carolina (CFWNC) recently awarded eight grants totaling $67,949. The Fund was established to improve the quality of life in the Enka-Candler community by supporting education, economic development, healthcare and community development projects. With these grants, total grantmaking since 2005 is $1,229,963.
Recent grants are:
$10,000 to Candler Elementary School to update its library.
$5,000 to Enka High School to purchase education materials for use by students and teachers.
$7,320 to Enka Middle School to create an outdoor learning space with a mural.
$10,000 to Helping at Risk Kids to support disadvantaged children and youth with basic needs and enrichment experiences.
$10,000 to Hominy Valley Elementary School to purchase books.
$10,000 to Montmorenci United Methodist Church/Free Community Meal to purchase produce for its weekly market.
$10,000 to Pisgah Elementary School for a second-grade tutor.
$5,629 to Sand Hill - Venable Elementary School for tables and chairs needed for interactive learning.
