Leon C. and Grace E. Luther Scholarship

Colonel Leon C. Luther was born and raised on a farm near Andrews, in Cherokee County, North Carolina. He graduated from the Andrews public schools system and managed the family farm until his death in 2004.

After military tours of duty in Europe, the Middle East and Far East, he accepted a position at what is now the Army Logistics Management College. He also graduated from many service schools including the Defense Intelligence School and the Defense Language Institute.

The Leon C. and Grace E. Luther Scholarship Fund honors the memory of Colonel Luther and his spouse, Grace, and acknowledges their ties to the community and contributions to the region. This renewable scholarship will assist graduating seniors of Andrews High School as they pursue higher education.

Eligibility

Graduating senior from Andrews High School in Cherokee County and who will attend any accredited 4-year college or university in the U.S., and be enrolled in a full-time course of study.

CFWNC ensures that all scholarship recipients are selected on an objective and nondiscriminatory basis and that selections are based on specific guidelines and criteria for each fund.

Selection Criteria

  • Graduating seniors of Andrews High School
  • Pursuit of a 4-year college or university degree
  • Possesses strong moral character

In addition to the above, preference will be given as follows:

  • Applicants with demonstrated financial need
