Each year grants are made from these funds that align with their stated purposes. Generosity multiplied.
Fund for Western North Carolina addresses broad needs in 18 counties of WNC, including the Qualla Boundary. Grants have supported expanding access to the arts, supporting a sustainable food system and capacity building for WNC’s nonprofit sector.
Fund for Human Services supports programs meeting basic needs and providing a path to economic self sufficiency. Grants have supported multiple student success efforts, access to healthy foods and financial literacy programs.
Fund for Animal Welfare focuses on rescue and adoption programs, spay/neuter services, care for injured or orphaned wildlife and prevention of cruelty to animals. Grants have supported expanded space for rescue efforts, veterinarian pay and funding for food.
Fund for the Arts makes grants for the visual and performing arts and programs that expand or improve cultural offerings in the region. Grants have supported the purchase of studio equipment, support for public school programming and the creation of a WNC craft trail.
Fund for the Environment supports preservation and protection for natural resources and scenic spaces. Grants have supported the protection of the Blue Ridge Parkway, water quality projects, the Pisgah-Nantahala forest planning process and numerous land conservation efforts.
Fund for Education improves educational opportunities in public schools. Grants have supported hands-on arts projects, computers to support STEM programs and the expansion of Smart Start programming.
Fund for Health improves access to quality health care. Grants have supported bilingual health care navigators, medical and dental care for domestic violence victims and increased access to behavioral and substance abuse programs.
Fund for Strong Communities improves our region’s civic and economic vitality with a specific emphasis on issues of social justice and equity. Grants have supported job training and support, affordable housing and financial counseling.
The Women’s Fund addresses the unmet needs of women and girls. Grants are awarded through the Women for Women grant program.
Fund for Scholarships supports scholarships for deserving students across Western North Carolina. Scholarship Directory
An endowment provides annual income for Women for Women that supports stability and sustainability for the Women for Women giving circle. It helps protect finances from changes in the economy and fluctuations in membership. Additionally, it provides a giving option for members and friends to make donations at any time and any level during the year or to leave a bequest or make memorial gifts.
