Alan Bruckner was a junior at A.C. Reynolds High School when he died unexpectedly in May 2001. He was a talented student, varsity athlete, and an extraordinary human being. He was a joyful, kind, giving person, and his death profoundly touched the A.C. Reynolds family. Alan loved being a students at Reynolds, and being part of the Reynolds community. He was deeply loved, and mourned, by his friends, classmates, teachers and coaches.
After his death, a memorial fund was established at The Community Foundation in his name. Contributions were used to establish a permanent scholarship fund for students at Reynolds High School. It is an expression of gratitude to the students, faculty and administration of A. C. Reynolds, for the love, guidance and care shown Alan during his high school years.
Following the death of Alan's father, Frank, in 2012, the family requested that the fund name be amended to include him, so the fund is now known as the Frank and Alan Bruckner Scholarship.
