EDRF Grant Program

The Emergency and Disaster Response Fund (EDRF) grant program was activated on March 18 to provide funding quickly for human service organizations to address basic needs exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic and to respond to immediate/urgent needs not covered by other sources.

One hundred and sixty one grants totaling $1,327,648 have been awarded to nonprofits serving all 18 counties and the Qualla Boundary. Nearly half of the funds were awarded to organizations addressing hunger across the region.

Nonprofits utilized a simple, expedited online process to access funds with grants considered and awarded on a rolling basis, as fundraising continued throughout the outbreak and recovery phases of the pandemic.

Although the first phase of CFWNC’s grantmaking response to the COVID-19 pandemic has closed and nonprofits can no longer apply to the EDRF, CFWNC is working to determine how grantmaking will address the pandemic in our new fiscal year, beginning July 1. Please check the grants directory often for updated information about eligibility and application requirements for CFWNC grant programs.
