specific criteria following each scholarship description to be eligible
for that award.
WNC Regional Scholarships
(Deadline: January 15)
Clyde & Mildred Wright Memorial Scholarship Fund
William Forster, Jr. and Nancy Forster Stevens Scholarship Fund
Lucius Lanier Memorial Fund
Nelle Crowell Fletcher & G.L. Crowell Fund
Together, these funds offer one scholarship to each public high
school in Western North Carolina. Scholarships range from $1,000
non-renewable awards to $5,000 four-year renewable awards.
To qualify for this scholarship, you must be:
- a graduating senior of Cherokee High School or Swain County
High School
Harry W. Clarke Memorial Scholarship
(Deadline: January 15)
One $1,500 four-year renewable award to students attending four-year
institutions
One $750 two-year renewable award to students attending two-year
community colleges
To qualify for this scholarship, you must be:
- a graduating senior of Cherokee High School or Swain County
High School
- committed to attending college within North
Carolina
Captain John G. Gardner, USMC, Viet Nam Veterans Memorial Scholarship
(Deadline: January 15)
Three non-renewable $1,000 awards
To qualify for this scholarship, you must be:
- a graduating high school senior
- a relative of an active-duty decorated Vietnam veteran (proof of military service required)
Gene and Lee Meyer Scholarship
(Deadline: January 15)
Four $2,000 awards, renewable for three additional years
To qualify for this scholarship, you must be:
- a graduating senior of Cherokee High School or Swain County
High School with a minimum 3.0 unweighted GPA
- a U.S. Citizen
This scholarship has the following special characteristics:
- preference for Native American students (proof of heritage
and tribal affiliation required)
- preference for students in foster care
