Foundation Awards 2008 Summertime Kids Grants
24 WNC Organizations Use $46,293 to Benefit Area Children

Summer has come again to the mountains of Western North Carolina, and more than 1,000 children across our region are enjoying their time away from school with help from Summertime Kids Grants from The Community Foundation of Western North Carolina, a program that supports summer activities for disadvantaged youth.

A total of $46,293 in grants has been awarded to 24 nonprofit organizations or public agencies that serve less fortunate children living in the 18-county mountain region. Specifically, Summertime Kids-funded programs target children of low-income, children living in remote or rural areas, children with disabilities, or children who have suffered from neglect or abuse.
